How to broadcast live with Anıl Uzun?

Since COVID19 crisis, we have been going through a lot. I would like to say a word on the pandemic affecting the music industry.

Since March all of the live performances have been canceled. So the musicians relying on tours and concerts or live gigs are in economical difficulties. This means the entertainment industry has been badly injured by COVID. Musicians are in a great financial crisis.

In these daunting times, the internet and social media have become more important than ever before. The musicians created a revenue model in social media.

Most musicians make live broadcasts, and their fans find the chance to connect with them

So how to broadcast live?

Musicians are not influencers, they may not have the knowhow to dominate social media as much as an influencer, so I wanted to give you a few tips on live broadcasting.

If you will broadcast live on social media you need to be creative. There are a lot of educational videos on the internet. You can learn which equipment to use, which microphone to get from those videos.

My advice is to get a USB microphone and plug it to your cell phone. If you have the budget you can buy a pop filter for a better sound quality.  It is important that you wear headphones to hear the sound properly. While recording you can use the software on your pc or connect your mixer to your phone.

When you are ready to go live, make a soundcheck and also check your connection. Also, do not forget to turn your notifications off. Turn “do not disturb” mode on your phone.

Choose a scenery that will look nice on the video, such as a beautiful view from your house or a wall. Make sure you don’t have a very colorful background so the audience can focus on you.

Lighting is very important. People need to see you as you perform. To support the lightning on your smartphone camera, you can use LED lights, or any other type of light buşubs to create an atmosphere.

Broadcasting simultaneously on Instagram, Youtube, Twitch, etc will bring you more audience. You can use your pc, tablet and smartphone to broadcast simultaneously.

Live streams are a great way  to generate revenue. After all, you are performing, of course, there must be a price for it and the audience might be willing to pay to support their favourite artist in times of COVID. You have every right to charge because the audience would buy tickets to go to a concert. Social media platforms such as Twitch, Patreon, Bandcamp are designed to contribute to the performers. You can also call out to your audience to purchase your recordings during live broadcast. Don’t be shy to encourage them to support the existing donation campaigns for musicians. You may be a musician who does not need money, but you can be the voice of the people in financial trouble in the music industry.

Have a great live broadcast!
