Music makes you lose control!

How not to overspend when buying musical instruments?

You can find good gear online at a great price and sell those you do not need anymore.

How to make money when selling instruments?

The first thing that I need to say to you is, you need to be honest. If you are genuine, then the selling process will go on painlessly. As you list your instrument, you need to write an informative description and include all the instrument’s flaws, if any. If you make an appealing entrance, people will continue to read the details of your gear. Also, pictures are important. Take photos in good light, define the refurbishments or any other negative aspects of the instrument clearly, and the positive ones. Keep in mind that the most important thing is the condition of the second-hand gear, so tell the potential buyers about your instrument’s state in detail.

And how to sell musical instruments online without losing money?

The second important thing is selling. You are expected to set a fair price on your gear. I recommend you research on the web before you decide on a price.  You know the quality of your instrument, and you will determine the fair price. But keep in mind that if your gear is a rare one on the market, you can increase the price. Do not underestimate the value when you are trying to be fair.

The second question is, how not to overspend?

When you are buying an instrument online, you have to be suspicious because some people are not honest enough. Before you buy, do thorough research and have an opinion about the value of that gear in general. This way, you won’t be fooled by the price.

Do not buy the first gear you see. Compare the prices and eliminate the ones that have apparent mishaps. Also, if you are buying on eBay or some other e-commerce website, check the seller feedback. Some sellers offer great deals, but they may be hustlers. People are selling on Facebook, and you can check the sellers from the groups they are in. check the groups and see if any other person did buy from that seller or not; if so, you can contact the buyers and get feedback about the seller.

Before you buy, ask for as many photos you can get from the seller. Ask the seller about the return policy. That is very important. Do not hesitate to ask many questions. Do not buy if you are content with the answers given. Because the instruments are not cheap, and you wouldn’t want to spend a lot of money on trash gear. Learn about the instrument’s serial number, manufacturing information/address, if possible. You can also ask for the phone number of the manufacturer.

One last thing that ı would recommend is to meet with the seller and get the chance to play the instrument. You can go to the seller’s place, or you can meet in a convenient location. If you meet with the seller, you can always ask for a discount as well.  🙂
