Don’t judge me, but I just watched Bohemian Rhapsody that was made in 2018…
I can hear you asking “Do you live in a cave?”
I was working, I had been busy and did not have the time to catch movies before COVID19. Then I had to stay home, I decided to see movies about music. I am committed to see all the movies that I have missed in the last 10 years.
Fortunately, I have all the time to catch up. I have heard about the movie on the Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody movie. But as I said, I didn’t have the opportunity to see it.
The Queen has a special place in many hearts in our generation. A movie on one of the biggest bands in the history of rock introducing Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and John Deacon to the younger generation is a very precious move. My 14-year-old nephew started listening to Queen after seeing the movie. I have been a big fan of Queen since middle school and I have all the albums. The movie was very nostalgic for me while a new experience for my nephew.
I liked the movie reflecting the rock scene of the 70s and 80s, the AIDS trouble and the struggle of the musicians very well. I liked the movie overall, very much. There are Hollywood clichés in the movie, but I recommend you not get caught in the details. You will find yourselves at a Queen concert at the end of the movie!
The Plot
The movie is a biography, on Freddie Mercury and his band. The story begins in Freddie’s late teenage years, and tells the establishment, fame and turmoil of the music band. The movie touches on many sad but real issues about the singer— this struggle between his beloved woman and his sexual identity, his fight against depression, and the reality of AIDS.
Live Aid Concert
The movie finale was the Live Aid concert. The concert was shot with real Queen fans, reflecting an incredible atmosphere as you watch the movie. It was also very fun to listen to Queen discography in the movie.
Rami Malek deserved the Oscar he got. He depicts Freddie Mercury very well, the cast selection was significantly successful in general.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a movie that deserves praise. Seeing the movie was a very nostalgic and emotional journey for a former rocker like me. It is quite difficult to depict the characters in depth in a biography film. And this movie is about a band. I think the success of this film is that it tells the story of fame and struggle without going too far. The simplicity in the movie ends when the concert starts. During the concert scene Queen songs have carried the audience to a very dynamic atmosphere.
In general, the movie is a magnificent production that will make its mark in the history of music with its directing team, script and actors, and will stand firm for years!
See it before it!s late!
